Free Fancy Cable Pattern

Adapted from mon tricot Knitting Dictionary Stitches Patterns  

TERMS: Cr 6 R = slip 3 sts on to a cable needle and leave at front of work, knit next 3 sts, then knit 3 sts from cable needle.

PATTERN:

Rows 1, 5, : P3, k 12, p3.

Rows 2, 4, 6, 8: maintain sts from previous row (k the knits, and p the purls).

Row 3:  P3, [Cr6 R]  twice, p3.

Row 7: P3, k3, Cr 6 R, k3, p3.

SWATCH: With worsted weight yarn and size 6 needles.  Cast on 28 sts.  Work 1" in seed st.  Continuing seed st border on first and last 5 sts for full length of swatch beg pattern and work through 3 times.  Finish with 1" seed st.  Bind off in pattern.  

ENTWINTED LOZENGES

TERMS:

CN = Cable needle Cr2 L =  sl 2 sts on to a cable needle and leave at front of work, p1, then k2 sts from cable needle. Cr2 R =  sl 1 st on to a cable needle and leave at back of work, k2, then P1 from cable needle.

PATTERN: 

Pattern works on 16 sts: 20 rows

Row 1: P3, k2, p4, k4, p4, k2, p3.

Row 2 and all even numbered rows: the stitches are worked according to those of previous row (k the knits, p the purls).

Row 3 & 19:  P3, k2, p4, sl 2 sts on to a cable needle and leave at back of work, k2, then k2 from cable needle, p4, k2, p3.

Row 5:  P3, cr2 L , p2, cr2 R , cr2 L, p2, cr2 R, p3

Row 7:  P4, cr2 L, cr2 R, p2, cr2 L, cr2 R, p4.

Rows 9 & 13:  P5, cross 4 sts same as row 3, p4, cross 4 sts same as row 3, p5.

Row 11:  P5, k4, p4, k4, p5.

Row 15: P4, cr2 R, cr2 L, p2, cr2 R, cr2 L, p4.

Row 17: P3, Cr2 R, p2, cr2 L, cr2 r, p2, cr2 L, p3

SWATCH: Cast on 28 sts.  Work seed st for 1 inch.  In last row, maintaining seed st pattern, work 11 sts, m1,  [work 2 sts, m1] 3 times, finish row in seed st - 32 sts. Note: Work 5 sts in seed st before and after pattern for full length of swatch. Work pattern, starting from row 1, and maintaining seed st border until you've work pattern through 3 times, ending with row 19. Last row: maintaining pattern of row 20 across: work 9 sts, p 2 tog, [work 2, p 2 tog] 3 times, finish row in pattern - 28 sts.
Work 1" seed st.  Bind off in pattern.

CABLE SWATCH

TERMS:

CN = Cable needle Cr2 L =  sl 2 sts on to a cable needle and leave at front of work, p1, then k2 sts from cable needle. Cr2 R =  sl 1 st on to a cable needle and leave at back of work, k2, then P1 from cable needle.

Pattern: 

Pattern works on 16 sts: 14 rows.

Row 1:  P3, k2, p4, sl 2 sts on to a cable needle and leave at back of work, k2, then k2 from cable needle, p4, k2, p3.

Next row and all even numbered rows: the stitches are worked according to those of previous row (k the knits, p the purls).

Row 3:  P3, cr2 L , p2, cr2 R , cr2 L, p2, cr2 R, p3

Row 5:  P4, cr2 L, cr2 R, p2, cr2 L, cr2 R, p4.
